This policy describes how Ayman Zahran (“I”, “me”) handles information when you use https://aymanzahran.com (the “site”). The site is a personal portfolio and freelance practice site. It is not a company product with user accounts. I am the site owner and the person responsible for this policy.

What data may be collected

The site does not ask you to create an account, and I do not run a customer database for visitors. Information that may be collected falls into these groups:

Information you send me. If you email ah.zahran@outlook.com, book a call, or message me on a linked service (LinkedIn, GitHub, X, YouTube, or dev.to), I receive whatever you choose to include: your name, email address, the content of the message, and any scheduling details. I use that only to reply and to discuss possible work.
Technical data from your browser. Like most websites, the host and any measurement tools may see your IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages requested, and the time of the request. Hosting logs exist to operate and secure the site.
Advertising and measurement data. When Google AdSense or Google Analytics is active, Google and its partners may collect identifiers, coarse location, ad interactions, and pages visited, as described below.

I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. This site is written for a professional audience. I do not sell personal information.

Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Similar technologies include local storage (localStorage), session storage, and pixels. The portfolio itself does not require a login cookie and does not store an account profile in your browser.

Cookies and local storage may still be used in these cases:

Essential operation. The host or your browser may set strictly necessary cookies to deliver the page, remember a consent choice if one is added later, or protect the connection.
Advertising. Google AdSense and its partners use advertising cookies and similar storage to show ads, limit how often you see an ad, measure ad performance, and (where allowed) personalize ads.
Analytics, when enabled. Google Analytics may use cookies or local storage to distinguish visits and understand which pages are used. Analytics is optional on this site and is only loaded when a measurement ID is configured at build time. It may be used when that configuration is enabled.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking advertising or analytics cookies does not stop you from reading the site. Blocking all cookies can affect embedded third-party content if a page includes it.

Google AdSense and third parties

This site is intended to use Google AdSense (publisher pub-7062962300161480) to show ads. AdSense is an advertising service provided by Google. Google, and other companies that participate in the ad auction, are third parties. They may use cookies, mobile advertising IDs, and similar technologies to serve and measure ads on this site and on other sites.

Those third parties receive technical information such as your IP address, browser, and the page you are on, and they may combine it with data they already hold if their own policies allow that. I do not control Google’s subsequent use of that data. You can manage ad personalization through Google Ads Settings and industry opt-out tools such as aboutads.info and Your Online Choices. Where the law requires consent before advertising cookies are stored, ads should not be personalized until that consent is given. A consent banner will be added before personalized ads are relied on for visitors in the EEA, the UK, and similar regions.

Analytics

Google Analytics may be used when it is enabled. The site build injects the Analytics tag only when a real measurement ID is supplied at build time. Until that happens, the published pages do not load Analytics. If Analytics is enabled later, Google may process usage data (pages viewed, approximate geography, device, and referral) under Google’s Privacy Policy. IP anonymization is requested in the site’s Analytics snippet when that snippet is present. Analytics data is used to understand which writing and portfolio sections are useful, not to make automated decisions about you.

How long information is kept

Email and scheduling correspondence is kept as long as needed to answer you, complete the work we discuss, and meet ordinary professional record-keeping. Hosting and security logs are kept for the retention period set by the hosting provider, which is typically a limited operational window. Advertising and analytics retention is set by Google according to the product settings in effect when those products are enabled. I delete or anonymize information sooner when you ask and I have no duty to keep it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

ask whether I hold personal information about you and receive a copy of it;
ask me to correct information that is inaccurate;
ask me to delete information I hold, subject to legal exceptions;
object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing;
withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.

To use any of these rights, email ah.zahran@outlook.com with enough detail for me to find the information (for example the address you wrote from). I will respond within a reasonable time. Requests about data held by Google should also be made to Google, because I cannot delete data inside Google’s ad or analytics systems on your behalf.

Links to other sites

The site links to Calendly, LinkedIn, GitHub, X, YouTube, dev.to, Credly, and similar services. Those sites have their own policies. This policy covers aymanzahran.com only.

Changes

I will update this page when the site’s data practices change, and I will change the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the site after an update means you have the current policy available to you at this URL.
